About me

RosieFall2014Mini_WEB23 BWI love babies! I have three of my own that are now grown and now I have two adorable grandsons! When people ask how long I’ve been a doula, I tell them I was born a doula. I’ve always loved babies and just about everything born on Gods green earth! New born days, new born seasons, new born ideas.

It all began when I grew up in a large family. My mom brought home a shiny new baby every year, for the first six years of my life, and the farm animals were having babies too! I was always curious about birth as a young child. I cannot remember a time in my life when I was not fascinated and preoccupied with all things birth.

My almost audible calling to birth work came the moment my second baby entered the world. I had an ecstatic birth and wanted all women to know the same feeling. I wanted all my woman kin and woman all around the world to understand how amazing our bodies are and how powerful and magnificent birth is. After my own young mothering years it seemed natural, felicitous, even surreal, for me to become a certified birth doula. As Kermit the Frog says, “Time’s fun when you’re having flies” and now 13 years later I am still as thrilled and honored to be a helpful presence at the time of birth as I was the very first time!

In my role as a doula I provide emotional, physical and informational support to pregnant women and their families around the time of birth. We have 2-3 prenatal meetings where I listen to mom’s hearts desires, her fears, her life successes, and her vision for this baby’s birth day. I go to her home for meetings and join her there when labor begins. I stay with her until after her baby is born. I support couples that are trained in Bradley Husband Coached Childbirth, Hynobirthing, Hypnobabies, Birthing From Within, and Lamaze. I am familiar with most birth philosophies and I respect, support, compliment, and reinforce each woman’s personal birth philosophy. Each birth is a special miracle. I protect & honor each woman’s birth vision, birth plan and her birth space. It would be my privilege and my joy to work with you!

“Muscles send messages to each other. Clenched fists, a tight mouth, a furrowed brow, all send signals to the birth-passage muscles, the very ones that need to be loosened. Opening up to relax these upper-body parts relaxes the lower ones.” ~William and Martha Sears
